Largo, FL – 01/17/26.
John Fay is the founder of Resilience, Inc, an organization that seeks to provide Social Emotional Learning (SEL) tools to schools and families, with the goal of preventing school shootings, improving academic performance, and strengthening mental and emotional health nationwide. Molded by a military upbringing in childhood, and by a passion for service and sacrifice for others, John obtains the belief that although change can be difficult, it is required for paving a better way. Inspired by this belief, along with the passion that he finds in helping others, John is taking on a proactive approach: running for Congress in the 13th District of Florida. His mission is to be an advocate for the people of Florida, who not only listens to their concerns, but provides the practical solutions that are needed to fight for safer communities, affordable food and living, and the protection of seniors and children alike.
School Shooting Prevention:
The mass school shootings in the United States are a crucial issue, one that John aims to prevent by addressing the root cause: a lack of empathy and emotional control. In order to see a reduction in these violent outcomes, John believes that early interventions can be established in schools, through the teaching of Self-Awareness and SEL (social-emotional learning). When paired with skills to manage their emotions and connect with others, emotionally-intelligent children will be far more likely to grow into emotionally-intelligent adults, enabling people to handle conflict in a more constructive manner. This shift, over time, increases safety to every member of society, prompting a greater sense of peace, while defusing fear, violence, and apathy.
Suicide & Depression Prevention:
John Fay’s vision and mission to decrease violence does not only point to school shootings, however. In a different – but equally important – manner, depression and suicide are problems that John wishes to emphasize interventions for. If left untreated, depression may significantly increase suicide risk, leading to tragic losses for the families involved. One such way that John would aim to prevent depression and suicide, would be to administer affordability of mental health services. Through the funding of social workers and mental health coaches, and increasing accessibility to these essential mental health supports, John’s mission would enable Americans to get the support that they need, by meeting them where they are at.
Affordability for County Residents:
For John, building A Better Way does not stop there. As a resident of Florida, John has witnessed the burden that the state’s residents share – the rising costs of groceries, rent, healthcare, and insurance. John’s vision for Florida is one where food is a matter of national security, instead of the reality, wherein the prices of food have spiked far above normal inflation rates. Additionally, John will fight to protect seniors from unfair taxes, and will push for affordable costs of living, through balanced policy, fair lending practices, and support for first‑time homebuyers. In order to respond to the climbing health service and insurance rates, John will introduce caps on prescriptions and hospital visits and establish independent price regulators, to help match costs seen in other modern nations.
