Senior Property Tax Relief and Business Fairness Act To Aids Seniors Financially And Protects Small Businesses

Largo, FL – 6/17/2026.

John Fay, a candidate for Congress in Florida’s 13th Congressional District, proposes the Senior Property Tax Relief and Business Fairness Act, one of several bills he has drafted to support and aid communities all across Florida. The legislation aims to release the financial strain that Seniors (ages 65 and over) have in the state of Florida. The legislation will accomplish this by closing outdated business tax exemptions that benefit larger corporations. It also helps small businesses by promoting a more equal and fairer tax system.

Seniors in Florida live in constant financial pressure from the cost of living, housing, and insurance premiums. Likewise, small businesses face many challenges under the current tax system while the larger corporations benefit.

The Senior Property Tax Relief and Business Fairness Act will solve these financial issues by reviewing outdated business tax exemptions and redirecting revenue to seniors. The proposal would protect small businesses tax exemptions and mainly focus on outdated tax loopholes that large corporations benefit from.

The revenue generated from the exemptions would be used to expand senior tax relief programs nationwide. The legislation seeks to increase outreach efforts to eligible residents, and add additional aid and support to seniors living on fixed incomes who are struggling financially with rising housing and insurance costs.

“Our senior citizens are paying a higher tax rate than billion dollar corporations with private jets, excessive spending and unnecessary expenses. ” Seniors pave the road to highways that we enjoy, many of them are working well into their golden years just to pay for medications and medicare part b, and [yet] they are facing affordability challenges like never before,” said John Fay.

If enacted, the Senior Property Tax Relief and Business Fairness Act would provide financial relief to Seniors across the state of Florida and promote equitable tax system for businesses
